This sweet little one was 11 days old for her newborn session and the perfect mix of sleepy and awake. I love the neutral backdrops that are timeless. We used a little browns for the props.

She was all smiles and simply so fun to photograph. We tried something different and used a pool backdrop since it was June to capture a fun summer feel.
I have a few options to the milestone package. There is a 3 session package which we can customize or a 5 session package as well that can be customized. The only session that must be in studio is the newborn session after that as long as the temp. don’t fall to low we can take some outside photos as well. Parents and sibligns are always included in the grow with me package.

It is that time of year again!! Sunflower mini sessions are NOW booking!! The Sunflower is one of my favorite flowers and a beautiful backdrop to get updated family portraits, baby photos and maternity photos. They bloom for a brief period anytime from July into early September. But, if you miss out on these massive blooms, you can still get beautiful pictures with the many pockets of wild sunflowers around the areas. I will also be having a Studio sunflower backdrop for those who would rather have their baby photographed indoors. This backdrop is ONLY for children.
Here are some of the challenges with photo sessions at those large sunflower fields.
During the late Summer, the sun rises early and sets late. There is harsh, direct sunlight from about 8am to around 6:30-7pm. I usually find myself crossing my fingers and toes, hoping for overcast skies. Direct sunlight means dark, unflattering shadows and squinty eyes for your pictures. . Since it’s better to put the sun at your subject’s back, a photographer only has until the sun clears the horizon to enjoy soft morning light.
What are the best solutions to these lighting issues? Stick to those limited times of soft light, bring lighting equipment out to the fields, or choose locations with better shade. Everyone loves that amazing golden light mixed with happy sunflowers. But, I encourage you to pray for some clouds!
I have very limited time slots!
I will have several different days to choose from. There are three different Sunflower patches I use. A sunflower patch in Hopewell, A smaller sunflower patch in Mechanicsville and a Large sunflower patch in Goochland. There maybe a fee to enter the farm so be prepared. The mini session is 15 min and you get 5 digital downloads for $225 plus tax.
The third challenge is heat and bugs. In August and September, the evenings in Richmond, VA tend to be hot and muggy. You won’t want to forget your bug repellant.

Little Miss. E. was 3 wks new during her session. She took some time to settle but once she did we got some amazing poses. We have the studio set at 80 degrees with a heater so she is nice and warm during her session. This lovely baby girl brought so much joy into my studio.
Newborn sessions have the best results when the baby is under 10 days old. This is because they are still super sleepy and love to curl up. Newborn photo shoots are also best done before baby acne sets in at about 14 days. However, sometimes this can’t be done and an older baby we may have to work a little harder to get them into certain poses. Some poses such as the froggy pose may not be idea for an older baby but there are still several poses we can get an older baby into.
If you're thinking about a newborn photoshoot for your new baby, inquire early. I'm currently booking a few months out. If your newborn is already here feel free to reach out, occasionally I do have last-minute openings. I'm also now offering priority editing, you can opt to have your image gallery within 5 days of your session. It's a great way to get your images back right away, especially if you want to get those birth announcements out. There is a fee for this service.

Photographing newborns is my passion. I used to be a doula and have witnessed over 86 births. I am very comfortable around babies and have had many safety training. One of my favorite parts of photographing newborns is the opportunity to capture their innocence, beauty, and vulnerability. Newborns are incredibly adorable and have unique features that make for beautiful photographs. Photographers can capture these special moments that parents can cherish for a lifetime.
Another aspect that photographers may enjoy is the challenge of working with newborns. Newborns are delicate and require patience and care when handling them during a photo session. Photographers who specialize in newborn photography often have a special talent for soothing and posing newborns in ways that showcase their features and personalities.

Winter is right around the corner…I have several backdrops that will make a great setting for your babies milestone portraits. Little L. was such a great model at 6 months old. He was just learning to sit up ! He gave me so many smiles.
These are a few of my sessions from the FAll mini sessions. Fall is my favorite season, the colors are just beautiful and the weather in VA was perfect for these families. I offer Fall minis every year and I love to see families come back for their annual portraits; its a bonus when I also meet new families.
I offered a fall backdrop as well so it was nice when it was a bit cold outside for the little ones.

Outfit-wise... cute little eyelet sundresses, or denim rompers look super perfect for these Sunflower sessions or even if you have the most perfect sun hat or plaid shirt. I love some good accessories and a pair of cowboy boots!
This year I will be having several Sunflower minis. The first minis will be held in Amelia, VA on July 9th. The second Sunflower minis will be held in Manakin Sabot, VA a few min from Short Pump. These Sunflowers should be available in a few weeks.
These flowers only bloom for up to two weeks, which is a short time. If you will be unable to do these this year or miss the boat this time around, just reach out to me with your contact info. I'll circle back around with you next time they are in bloom!

The typical newborn session takes place within the first two weeks. However, it's never too late to capture the beauty of your newborn baby. I have been a photographer here in the Richmond, VA area for 10 years.. I love to photograph newborns and babies this is my specialty and I am completely comfortable and confident when working with "older "newborns.
This beautiful little girl was 3.5 weeks old for her session and we were able to get a variety of poses, set ups, etc. Those chunky cheeks are the best!
Welcome to the world little one. We did a mixture of posed and lifestyle with her session. I came to her home so to make the family more comfortable and for the lifestyle portion of the session. Big brother was so great with his sister considering he was under 2 yrs old.
I don’t charge extra to come to your home at this time. There is no travel time, no packing and no taking the baby out. The images are real and tell a story. This is another place I love to photograph. The Evergreen trees are perfect for the winter months and the grounds are well manicured for any time of year.
Introducing a sweet little newborn girl, such a sweet little babe. I brought the studio to her home for her newborn session right before she turned two weeks old. Many people are confused or don’t understand why we recommend the right around 2 weeks of life for baby pictures. There are a few reasons. The first being that we want to capture them fresh. We love to see the wrinkles, the hairy shoulders, the flaky skin. We love the soft fingernails, tiny lashes. Each unique little feature of your newborn baby changes quickly. Soon they won’t fit so tiny in your arms. The little peach fuzz on their shoulders, back and cheeks will soon be gone. They won’t be as curly, as sleepy. Their features will change, and they won’t quite look like a newborn anymore.
They are only this fresh, this tiny for such a short time. It is a fleeting moment that we love capturing for parents and families. In this stage they sleep deeply, they love to have their legs curled in to their bodies, just like they had them in the womb. The baby acne hasn’t developed yet. These are the moments that all too often are forgotten. Sleep deprivation takes its toll.
We love creating lasting, treasured memories for families and parents of their baby’s first days of life. Moments and memories that can never be recreated. Let us capture your baby for you. You’ll never regret having gorgeous images of your new little one. We can’t wait to work with you!

Introducing C. 6 days new. I love when i get to photograph families as they grow. I photographed her older brother a few years back and now i got to meet his baby sister. I loved the simple white and creams used for her session. Its classic and i love when parents want to use simple yet classic setups for their newborn session. I just cannot say enough about this couple. ! I first met them when I photographed E. first maternity session at Midlothian Mines park. They booked the Grow with me package which includes a minimum of three sessions. I photographed their little boys newborn session at their home which is an option and his One year milestone session. The grow with me package includes 20 digital per session, a mobile app. a 16x 20 canvas and an 8x8 album of their three or more sessions.

This maternity session took place at the beautiful Sunday Park with it’s beautiful water ways, boats, and dock this made for an excellent location for photograph her maternity session The backdrop was just beautiful But that’s just the background. How beautiful does Mom look in her gown? She looks so at one with nature. I cannot get over how elegant she looks . So lovely!
It was so fun getting to take pictures of the whole family too. Little P. who is only 16 months old gave us a few smiles for the camera!
I’m looking forward to photographing their new little one. I travel to their home. This is an option for many who would prefer not to leave their house and travel with a newborn. I do have all the props and studio lights for their session. I sanitize everything after each session. Stay tuned to see their new addition. having him in the studio! Our time together during the shoot was yet another great experience with them. I’m so happy for this family, and I can’t wait to meet their new addition.
Double the cuteness, double the fun! I always enjoy the chance to photograph twins when the awesome opportunity arises – what a blessing to have two little bundles of joy! I didn’t realize until I became a newborn photographer that there are actually more twins born than you might think. Over the years, I have adopted a different process to account for the needs of two newborns (or even multiples) as opposed to one. So if you are curious as to how a twin newborn session compares to a single newborn session, read on.
Pricing – You shouldn’t have to pay more for two little miracles, so twin sessions are priced at the same rate as a normal newborn session; however, I allow a little more time for twin sessions to account for the feeding and cuddling of two babies.
The Package – Just like single newborn sessions, twin newborn sessions include a variety of images for your collection. Single newborn sessions include photos of your baby alone as well as parent and sibling pictures, while twin newborn sessions include the following additional combinations:
· Babies together
· Babies together with each parent
· Babies alone with each parent
· Babies with siblings together
· Whole family portrait(s)
Your gallery will include up to 50 photographs, just like single newborn sessions do. You choose 20 digitals and each image after the 20 is $10 each.
My Process – It’s all about taking turns. When both babies are sleeping, I photograph them together. Then, when one needs to eat, I work with the one who is still sleeping (or at least content and awake). Once baby A finishes eating, we switch and feed baby B while I do baby A’s individual shots.
I work with an assistant for all twin sessions to make sure babies are safe and secure the entire session as well to give parents a break so they can spend time together resting on the couch during the session – it’s a win for everyone!
Themed first birthday sessions are so much fun. I try and take some photos of the birthday child and with their parents then switch to the cake smash portion of their session which helps some one year old ease into the session. Some maybe a little shy and since Quarantine they haven’t been exposed to many people so some are a bit scared and cry but we did manage to get a few cute pic of the cookie monster themed ONE Year old milestone session.
There’s something I love so much about a little boy session. Maybe it’s the simplicity. The focus only on that sweet baby and nothing else. As a newborn baby photographer, that’s really my goal. To feature that sweet new addition to your family in the best way possible, but also in a way that you love and that reflects my style with your input from the questionnaire. I can come to your home and bring the studio or you could come to my home studio whichever is easiest for you. I clean and sanitize all of my equipment and props before each session.
